DO NOT take your vehicle here! I would leave no stars, but since that is not an option, I gave them one star. This repair shop will try to take advantage of you whenever they can both on their prices and when they think there is a chance you might be naive to the mechanical world. My 17 year old son took his car there to get a quotation on repair of his power steering. When they called him back they quoted him over $9500 to fix everylittle thing is his car even though he only wanted the power steering repaired. They told him that they would not fix the power steering unless he completed all the quoted work. Of the items listed, there were 2 things that actually needed repaired (we got second opinions on the quote). On top of that the prices they quoted were absolutely ridiculous!!! We are talking $127.60 for only transmission fluid!!! $1,000 to do the brakes!!!! I might add that they insisted that replacement of the Air conditioning in the car must happen right now...in the dead of winter, in -25?!?!?! Seriously! So the lesson that I was trying to teach my son, was to teach him to "adult" by booking his own car in (which he bought and paid for himself), but the lesson he ACTUALLY learned was that there are companies out there that will try to take advantage of you and this is one of them! Stay FAR, FAR, FAR away from this shop. oh, and FYI my sons engine mount and rask and pinon replacment are happily being fixed elswhere at a reputable shop for roughly $1200...everything else in my kids car is fine.
Hello, At Mint Auto Service, we take any review under 5-stars quite seriously. We would like to clarify that your son had come in with a power steering problem that had resulted in the fact that the vehicle's engine was completely off its mounts and solely resting on the power steering rack and steering pressure lines. This was a reflection of the overall condition the vehicle was in. Unfortunately we cannot ignore all of the safety issues that our Journeyman Technician found on the vehicle and it is our duty to report back to all of our customers with our findings. In order to do this repair properly and safely, the engine has to be removed from the vehicle which would require the AC to be evacuated and once the job completed, the AC to be recharged. We will not under any circumstance compromise our integrity and honesty, therefore we are sorry you feel the way you do about the large list of safety repairs your 17 year old son's vehicle needed. So sorry in fact that we made his inspection complimentary. We are not in the business of ripping our customer's off, but instead of being fully transparent and thorough with our work. We wish you the best of luck with these repairs. -The Team at Mint Auto Service.
